Pete plays white-hot guitar and sings. He has played various tunings on guitars since he was a child, and is considered to be a great slide guitarist. He is the alchemist of the band and has played many festivals, and shows, including East Coast Blues at Byron, Tanawah Blues Festival, Maleny-Woodford Folk Festival, Jazz at Kingscliff Beach and more. He has played from Sydney to Cape York and across Australia, and most recently the southern states of the USA. He loves authentic roots styles of music and the chance to play to live audiences.
Legendary Chain bassist for more than 28 years, Dirk has seen just about all there is to see in Australia’s blues and rock history. He has rubbed shoulders with many national and international entertainers. He regularly gets called to Melbourne and Sydney for work and has played with Billy Thorpe, Ian Moss, Spectrum, Kevin Borich, Dave Hole, Mal Eastick and other Australian acts. He has also played with internationals including Johnny Johnson (Chuck Berry) and Buddy Guy. He was a personal friend of Gregg Allman and is well respected on the Melbourne music scene.
Matt has been the coordinator of music at the Woodford Folk Festival blues stage for 8 years as well as assisting in and directing many village music festivals in South East Qld and Northern Rivers. He is a multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, banjo and drums. He has played at the Great Southern Blues Festival at Narooma, Bendigo Blues Festival Victoria, Woodford Folk Festival and Cairns Blues Festival in Queensland, Darwin Blues Festival and Bridgetown Blues Festival in Western Australia. Matt is well known for playing guitar in the Hoochers, banjo in the blue Skillet Rovers and drums in Two Rivers.
Blind Willie Wagtail is a well respected Northern Rivers authentic blues and rockabilly style band which has been the base for many great players moving through the area over the past decade. The one constant has been Peter Hurcombe, who has focused on this genre of music for more than 40 years. The band plays in the styles of the pre-war blues slide guitar players from the '20s and '30s and the hard electric edge of the '50s blues stylists like Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf with a captivating twist of the magic from rock and roll and rockabilly legends Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Burnette, Elvis and others.
